Bird style Kung Fu can be a wicked form of fighting!

Bird style kung fu is one of the most brutal types of kung fu I have ever seen.

There are a lot of different styles out there when it comes to birds. Crane and eagle style are by far the most popular styles in the bird family.

Eagle claw kung fu focuses on grabbing with the first 3 fingers.Even in the most basic form that I have seen there are very brutal moves, such as neck breaks and grabbing the throat and pulling while you kick your opponent.

Crane style tends to be pretty wicked as well. This style focuses on flicks to the eyes and throat. It also focuses on leg techniques like sweeps and kicks.

There are other moves in the bird family that I really enjoy. Moves like striking your opponent with your elbow and following up with an finger strike to the eyes.

The beak hand in the crane forms can be used to strike the eyes. They can also be used to hook the opponents hands out of the way before following up with a flick to the eyes. The beak hand can be used to strike the groin as well.

I was sparring a guy who was testing at one point and I was using the crane style. To me using crane style kung fu is very funny because people make fun of it because of the karate kid.
They do not realize how bad ass this style of kung fu really is!

In any case I was up on one leg. Not like in Karate kid because that is stupid but turned to the side in a well protected stance.

The guy I was sparring decides to just run at me and try to tackle me.

I threw a side thrust kick into his lower ribs and knocked the wind out of him.

After helping him get his breath back the poor guy still passed his test but he needed a bit of recovery time. I didn't mean to kick him as hard as I did he was just running and I hit him just right.

Make sure if you learn this style to take it very seriously. You can seriously hurt someone with the eye flicks and the brutal kicking combinations.
